David Randolph, owner and founder of Ozzie Smith's Sports Academy, had a dream...a dream of giving back to those athletes that want to excel in their sport of choice. In 1990, Ozzie Smith's Sports Academy was born and for the last 20 years it has produced results for every athlete it has trained. David brought to Ozzie's his life-long expierences, but also his passion for teaching. David was a 4-year football, basketball and baseball athlete at Principia Collige in Illinois. Since opening Ozzie's David has taught over 30,000 students. David personally trains all of Ozzie's instructors using a specific program designed to maximize each student’s potential. I have over 28 years of coaching and playing experience and I pride myself on teaching my students whatever is necessary to help them reach their potential. I stress HARD WORK and DEDICATION to every aspect of each respective sport. |
Mike Phelps

Ozzie Smith’s Sports Academy is proud to have Mike Phelps as a baseball instructor. Mike grew up in the St. Louis area and starting playing baseball at the age of 5. He attended Hazelwood West High School and was a 3 year varsity player earning all conference sophomore and junior year. After high school Mike attended Central Missouri State University. At Central Missouri State, hewon division 2 freshman of the year and was a pre season All American. After Mike’s 3rd year at college he was drafted by the Chicago Cubs in the 11th round. Mike loves to work with kids and help them achieve their goals and dreams within the game of baseball.

Zach Outman

Ozzie Smith’s Sports Academy is proud to have Zach Outman as a baseball instructor. In High School, Zach had a strong 4- year career finishing up his senior year in 2006. He then moved on to play baseball at Forest Park Community College. After spending one year playing short-stop, he was top three or better in every major offensive category for the team. During the season Zach also threw 7 innings from the mound with low ERA, which prompted a transfer scholarship offer from Saint Louis University. Zach spent his next two seasons as a Billiken spending his sophomore season as an Outfielder and Starting Pitcher and his junior season as a multi-purpose pitcher.
During the 2009 Amateur Player Draft, the Toronto Blue Jays picked Zach up in the 28th round. He spent the summer in Auburn, NY with the Short Season Class A team as a relief pitcher. Following the season, he was invited to the 2009 Florida Instructional League where he got extensive hands on mechanical training with five knowledgeable former major league pitchers. Zach’s older brother, Josh Outman, is a starting pitcher with the Oakland Athletics at the major league level and has been since September of 2008. Zach is now working here at Ozzie Smith’s Sports academy providing instruction in what he loves so that those following his path in baseball may achieve their highest potential and get a shot at their hopes and dreams like he and his brother were so lucky to have. |

Christie Cigno
Soccer |
Ozzie Smith’s Sports Academy is proud to have Christie Cigno as a Soccer Instructor. In her early years, she played for the Busch Soccer Club as well as the USA Region II Olympic development/USA National team. Christie went on to play high school soccer at St. Joseph’s Academy, where she was a four year starter and a four year All-State selection. She was fortunate enough to be selected as Captain for all three teams in their respective years.
Christie was a three time high school state champion at St. Joe, and her senior year was selected as the "Missouri State High School Player of the Year" as well as the "National Soccer High School Player of the Year." To this day, she holds the national record for most goals scored in a high school championship game. Christie was also selected as a
McDonald’s All-American in 2002 as well as a NSCAA All-American. From St. Joe’s, Christie went on to play college soccer and finished her career at Auburn University after an outstanding career. She currently works as the assistant coach at St. Joseph’s Academy. |

Mike Fleck
Basketball |
Mike comes to Ozzie's from Iowa State University where he graduated with a degree in Kinesiology and Human Health. During his time at ISU Mike spent three years working with the men's basketball program as a student manager. His responsibilities included running players through individual workouts, editing game film, assisiting with scouting, game preperation and various other day to day tasks.
Mike has also spent time working with high school boys and girls basketball players around Southeastern Wisconsin for the last several years. He is looking forward to sharing his basketball knowledge with hard working and dedicated young adults at Ozzie's.
